Les oubliés du Kivu by Ray Lema

In the face of decades of strategic sexual violence in the east of Congo, in this music video Congolese artists Ray Lema, Faustin Linyekula, Kadiatu Kamara and Petna Ndaliko Katondolo are reckoning with the consequences both of speaking out and of staying silent. In an effort to bring attention—and an end—to the decimation of women and life in Congo, they salute the matriarchs leading the way, in particular the work of Goma-based Synergie des Femmes pour les Victimes des Violences Sexuelles, which has served more than 18,000 women since its creation. Please consider donating to them at Donor Direct Action. Song features Freddy Masamba, Balu Canta, and Rodrigo Viana; special appearance in the video by Bethlehem Meshesha.
